Reavis is a perfect 10-0 against Argo since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rams will challenge the Argonauts at 4:30 p.m. Reavis will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Reavis had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Taft on Saturday. The Rams were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Eagles. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Reavis got a big performance out of Tino Villagomez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI Villagomez has posted since back in April. Juan Avila was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Reavis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taft only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Argo came up short against Crete-Monee on Saturday and fell 4-1. The loss continues a trend for the Argonauts in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.
Argo also got a good showing from Justin Arceo, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Arceo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Argo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Valente Melero, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Jacob Sosa also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Reavis pushed their record up to 19-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Argo, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Reavis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Argo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Reavis' way against Argo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Reavis made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Argonauts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
