The Thatcher Eagles will take on the Benson Bobcats in a tournament  on Friday. The last three games Thatcher has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Thatcher took a loss when they played away from home  last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed  on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Mary's, sneaking past  7-5.
 Paxton Echols was  incredible,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.  Brig Romney also deserves some recognition as  he  scored his first  run of the season.
 Echols wasn't the only one working in the  hit department: Thatcher  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  hit total in four consecutive  matches.
 Meanwhile, Benson was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight  loss. They were a single  run away from ending the streak, but they lost  a   7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of St. Mary's.
 Thatcher's win was  their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Benson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
 Thatcher was able to grind out a solid  victory over Benson when the teams last played  back in February of 2024, winning  9-5. Will Thatcher repeat their success,  or does  Benson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
