Baseball Game Preview: Compton Tarbabes vs. Centennial Apaches

Compton and Centennial are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Compton Tarbabes will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Centennial Apaches at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Compton will be strutting in after a win while Centennial will be coming in after a loss.

Compton saw some tournament action on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 27-3 margin over Compton Early College. The Tarbabes haven't had any issues with the Rising Phoenix recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Rafael Vicente made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Vicente was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Compton let Bobby Carrasco and Jaikup Rodriguez run wild. Carrasco scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Rodriguez scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Carrasco has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Velazquez, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Centennial came up short against Compton on Thursday, falling 10-4. The Apaches haven't had much luck with the Tarbabes recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Compton's win bumped their record up to 2-0-1. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Compton's way against Centennial in their previous meeting on Thursday, as Compton made off with a 10-4 victory. Will Compton repeat their success, or does Centennial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
