The Frontier Falcons will be playing at home against the North White Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Frontier has given up an average of 17.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Frontier is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Seeger on Tuesday, falling 31-18. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by exactly 13 runs.
Summer Kremer and Tatum Lear did some serious damage despite the final result: Kremer fired off eight RBI, three doubles, and one triple while going 4-for-5, while Lear went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Lear also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Addi Govert was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, North White was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They fell just short of Winamac by a score of 4-2.
Kaylyn Applegate spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Melanie Crawford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Frontier's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for North White, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Frontier hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like North White struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
