The Cotulla Cowboys's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Lytle, falling 77-45. While losing is never fun, Cotulla can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1574th, while Lytle is ranked 639th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lytle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Guevara, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Guevara hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Zacharee Perez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and four steals.
Lytle used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Cotulla. And. Andrew Gonzales made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points along with five rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
