Softball Recap: Laton Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Laton hadn't beaten Kings Christian on the road since May 9, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 28-10 win. Considering the Mustangs have won ten matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Celeste Aguiniga, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and one double. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Madison Heffley, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.

Laton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .519 or higher in 11 consecutive games.

Laton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.1 runs over those games. As for Kings Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-10.

Coincidentally, Laton and Kings Christian will both be playing Alpaugh the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will host the Buffalos at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Crusaders will head out to face them at 4:15 p.m. on May 9.
