Basketball Recap: Garner Wins Going Away Against Throckmorton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bryson, Garner was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Throckmorton Greyhounds as the Garner Longhorns made off with a 48-26 win. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Garner found their leader in sophomore Brayden Martinez, who posted 17 points along with seven steals and six boards. Martinez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times he's played. Juluis Crews was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Garner's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-11. As for Throckmorton, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with the defeat, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garner will host Newcastle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Garner has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Throckmorton, they will welcome Perrin-Whitt at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Perrin-Whitt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Throckmorton likes a good challenge.
