This season hasn't been kind to The Caldwell Hornets, who are still winless after their tenth contest. They took a hard 26-7 fall against Smithville on Friday. Caldwell has struggled against Smithville recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Caldwell saw an underclassman step up: Coy Becka rushed for 121 yards on only six carries, and also threw for 18 yards and a touchdown. Becka was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards.
Caldwell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Smithville, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Caldwell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Smithville also has no future games currently scheduled.
