Grant is 0-5 against the Warhorses since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Grant Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Peabody Warhorses at 6:00 p.m. Grant is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 16-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Grant pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 83-61 walloping at the hands of Franklin Parish. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Grant in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Peabody faced the Wildcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Peabody fell to the Wildcats 67-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jordan Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Robert Garland, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Grant has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for Peabody, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-6.
Grant was taken down by the Warhorses 91-10 in their previous matchup last Friday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Peabody's Justin Burns, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. Now that Grant knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
