The Immokalee Indians will head out on the road to take on the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Immokalee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Immokalee is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Dunbar with a sharp 22-2 victory on Thursday.
Kaylee Perez was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Sophia Silguero, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Perez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Immokalee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, LaBelle won against Avon Park on Tuesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. LaBelle beat Lake Placid by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys/Cowgirls.
Abby Hicks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.
At the plate, Emorie Anderson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carli Spencer, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Immokalee's record is now 7-8. As for LaBelle, their record now sits at 5-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Immokalee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. However, it's not like LaBelle struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Immokalee might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from LaBelle in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Immokalee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
