The Piper Bengals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of South Plantation by a score of 46-43. Piper lost against South Plantation in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-35 score last time.
Several Bengals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tahlia Dolce, who scored 14 points. The matchup was Dolce's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jazell Charles, who scored 13 points.
Piper has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for South Plantation, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piper is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Nova at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. Nova presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Piper in Florida (Nova is ranked 94th, while Piper is ranked 431st). As for South Plantation, they will head out on the road to face off against Deerfield Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Deerfield Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Monday.
