If North Buncombe wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Erwin, they should've done a better job of containing Syria Johnson. The Erwin Warriors took down the North Buncombe Black Hawks 53-39 on Thursday thanks in part to Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

Areana Cartledge-Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

When it comes to explaining why North Buncombe lost, don't look at Aubrey Gilliland. Despite the final result, she went 8-for-13 on her way to 19 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Olivia Stowe, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 16 points and five boards.

Erwin's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for North Buncombe, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.
