Louisa County is 4-0 against Spotsylvania since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Louisa County Lions will look to defend their home court against the Spotsylvania Knights at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Louisa County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Tuesday.
Louisa County's 23-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 50-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chancellor.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Taylor Yeatts, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. Yeatts is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Amara Comfort, who scored 8 points.
Meanwhile, Spotsylvania had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 53-47 victory over Colonial Beach on Tuesday. The victory was just what Spotsylvania needed coming off of a 77-51 defeat in their prior match.
Spotsylvania got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was JAYLAH BLACK out in front who scored 22 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which BLACK has scored at least 25% of Spotsylvania's points. KELLY ROSS was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-2.
Louisa County was able to grind out a solid victory over Spotsylvania in their previous meeting on Friday, winning 50-41. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Spotsylvania's ROSS, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Louisa County still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
