Desert Mountain recap November 13, 2013
Desert moved up to 553 from 625 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Desert Mountain. The Scorpions were able to move up by defeating Kern Valley 40-9.
Desert extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Broncs, 40-9. The win marks seventh in a row for the Chris Hinton's team.
Matthew Moore threw for 213 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 9-18 with 0 interceptions.
Marcelo Alvarez made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Scorpions topped Kern Valley. He racked up 2 sacks.
Matthew Steele was the best wideout in the league this week as Desert defeated Ben Goffinet and Brandon Deckard's team. Steele racked up 2 receptions for 91 yards. Chad Gleason helped Desert's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 95 yards.
Desert's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Scorpions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Moore has thrown for 1,733 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, while Gleason has 39 catches for 956 yards.
The Scorpions' Gleason is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 44 receiving yards against St. Anthony to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has acheived 39 catches for 956 yards.
Vasquez took down Albert Einstein Academy 79-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandon McCauley ran for 203 yards during the win.
