The Monrovia Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tri-West Hendricks Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Monrovia comes in on four and Tri-West Hendricks on nine.
Last Friday, Monrovia didn't have too much trouble with Speedway on the road as they won 20-3.
Monrovia had a senior duo take command as Dominic Kindle rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries and Brayton Belcher rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Kindle's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Speedway to a paltry 175 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Monrovia's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Horrace Kollie and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, Tri-West Hendricks can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by North Montgomery on the road to the tune of 42-6. 42 seems to be a good number for Tri-West Hendricks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Malachi Walden was his usual excellent self, rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 159 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Walden is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Hamstra, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Monrovia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Tri-West Hendricks, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-1.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Monrovia commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Tri-West Hendricks struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Monrovia suffered a grim 41-21 defeat to Tri-West Hendricks in their previous meeting back in October of 2017. Thankfully for Monrovia, Tyler Watson (who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 117 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time.
