The Westran Hornets pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-58 to South Callaway. Westran was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Callaway apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Westran lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marshall Kitchen. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Brandow, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Westran has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season. As for South Callaway, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Westran will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fayette at 7:30 p.m. Fayette is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for South Callaway, they will head out on the road to square off against Russellville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
