The Providence Grove Patriots will be home for the holidays to greet the East Davidson Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Davidson took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Providence Grove, who comes in off a win.
Even though Providence Grove has not done well against Uwharrie Charter recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Providence Grove snuck past Uwharrie Charter with a 59-53 victory. With that win, Providence Grove brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.
Providence Grove relied on the efforts of JADA NIXON, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and BROOKE INGRAM, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was NIXON's seventh in a row with at least ten points. LAUREL BERNHARDT was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Davidson came up short against Southwestern Randolph on Wednesday and fell 57-44. While losing is never fun, East Davidson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while Southwestern Randolph is ranked 139th).
Providence Grove pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for East Davidson, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Providence Grove was able to grind out a solid win over East Davidson when the teams last played back in November, winning 53-41. Will Providence Grove repeat their success, or does East Davidson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
