Southwestern is 0-10 against Olean since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Trojans will host the Huskies at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Southwestern came out on top against Dunkirk on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Trojans put the hurt on the Marauders with a sharp 10-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won three in a row.

Madi Burnett made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ariana Silakowski was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Rogers, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Southwestern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Olean never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Jamestown on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 24-5 margin over the Red Raiders. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ally Anastasia and Anna Bates did most of the damage at the plate: Anastasia went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI, while Bates went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Alaina Hirliman was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
The win got Olean back to even at 2-2. As for Southwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Southwestern has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Olean struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Southwestern might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Olean in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
