Sadly, the Linn County Mustangs are still looking for their first win of the season after 13 games. They were outmatched by Green City at home and fell 99-23. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Linn County in their matchups with Green City: they've now lost five in a row.
Green City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xander Salas led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 12 points, nine assists, and nine steals. Salas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Linn County's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Green City, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linn County will face off against Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Green City will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against La Plata at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th.
