Bernalillo's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Valley Vikings with a sharp 16-1 win. Considering the Spartans have won 11 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Calandria Montoya was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Montoya was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylee Herrera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Aasia Duran was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Bernalillo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted an OBP of .471.

Coming up, Bernalillo will challenge Los Alamos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
