Cherryville hasn't had much luck against West Lincoln recently, but that could start to change  on Friday. The Cherryville Ironmen will challenge the West Lincoln Rebels at 7:30  p.m. Cherryville will be strutting in after a  win while West Lincoln will be coming in after a  defeat.
 Cherryville is headed out to face West Lincoln after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Cherryville came out on top in a nail-biter against Avery County  on Friday, sneaking past  20-18. The  victory was a breath of fresh air for the Ironmen as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
 The critical scores for Cherryville came from  Andron Patterson,  Rayshaun Sewell, and  Enijahe Whitworth.
 Cherryville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Whitworth picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
 Meanwhile, West Lincoln had to hit the road for their first game and  it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took  a  27-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Lincoln on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings  (they are ranked 89th, while the Knights are ranked 35th).
 West Lincoln wouldn't let North Lincoln keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. It was truly a group effort as  Shawn Blackburn,  Ja'Quarion Robinson, and  Parker Cochrane picked up one apiece.
 Cherryville was dealt a bruising  68-7 loss at the hands of West Lincoln when the teams last played  back in August of 2023. Can Cherryville avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
