Baseball Recap: Paxton-Buckley-Loda Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Paxton-Buckley-Loda's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Cissna Park Timberwolves by a score of 8-5. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Timberwolves, too.

Tyler Cole made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Paxton-Buckley-Loda is undefeated when Cole allows two or fewer hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Cole was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryar Cosgrove, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive contests.

Paxton-Buckley-Loda is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Cissna Park, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paxton-Buckley-Loda will face off against Monticello at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sages will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cissna Park, they will challenge Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Timberwolves are facing the Buffaloes at the right time seeing as the Buffaloes are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
