The Raymore-Peculiar Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 20-10 to Lee's Summit. Raymore-Peculiar was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lee's Summit apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2020.
Gavin Smith threw for 105 yards on seven of 28 attempts. Daniel Lavalley was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards. On the ground, Layne Jensen rushed for 28 yards.
Lee's Summit was led to victory by Jaydan Gipson and Peyton Hatfield. Gipson rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown, while Hatfield picked up 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hatfield was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 63 yards.
Raymore-Peculiar's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.0 points per game. As for Lee's Summit, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Raymore-Peculiar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lee's Summit will head out on the road to face off against Lee's Summit North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lee's Summit North will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
