The Sandwich Indians will face off against the Wilmington Wildcats at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday. Sandwich will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Sandwich is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since April 8th on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Richmond-Burton.

Braden Behringer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Sandwich's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Griffin Somlock was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Sandwich was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Wilmington has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.67 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell 10-7 to Coal City. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Coalers since on Tuesday.
Declan Moran was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Lucas Rink was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one double.
Sandwich pushed their record up to 9-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Wilmington, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Sandwich has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wilmington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Sandwich couldn't quite get it done against Wilmington when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
