The Del Oro Golden Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Davis Sr. Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Del Oro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Del Oro's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over St. Francis. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Golden Eagles have posted against the Troubadours since March 1, 2019.
Ava Messina looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Del Oro got a massive performance out of Avyn Brower, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Brower has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Champas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Del Oro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Francis only posted a batting average of .150.
Meanwhile, Davis Sr. has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit last Friday. They lost 16-3 to Whitney. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since February 18th.
Gracie Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Del Oro pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Davis Sr., their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Del Oro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .398. However, it's not like Davis Sr. struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Del Oro's way against Davis Sr. in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Del Oro made off with a 12-1 victory. Does Del Oro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Davis Sr. turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
