Basketball Game Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. Pleasant Grove Vikings

Lone Peak has gone 9-1 against Pleasant Grove recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lone Peak Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Pleasant Grove Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Lone Peak is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.

Lone Peak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Westlake, who was ranked tenth at the time (Lone Peak was ranked 16th). Lone Peak took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westlake. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zuri Nordstrom, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Woolston, who posted 16 points and five boards.

Pleasant Grove got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lehi 60-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since November 22, 2024.

Lone Peak's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Pleasant Grove, they moved to 7-11 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Lone Peak was able to grind out a solid victory over Pleasant Grove in their previous matchup on January 10th, winning 40-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lone Peak since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
