The Vasquez Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vasquez is out to stop a 18-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Vasquez pushed their score all the way to 42 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hamilton.
Vasquez's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nathan Sanchez, who gained 93 total yards and two touchdowns, and Anthony Escobedo who gained 61 total yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three games, Santa Rosa Academy finally came back down to earth on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 35-8 loss at the hands of Whittier Christian. Santa Rosa Academy was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
The losses dropped Vasquez to 0-9 and Santa Rosa Academy to 5-4.
Vasquez took a serious blow against Santa Rosa Academy in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, falling 46-8. Thankfully for Vasquez, Justin York (who rushed for 91 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 148 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
