The high school football season in Nevada came to a close over the weekend.
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) was among the victors, beating
McQueen (Reno) 56-7 in the Class 5A state title game. That victory helped propel the Gaels to the No. 1 ranking in the final Nevada MaxPreps Top 25.
In winning its 11th state title in the past 13 seasons, Bishop Gorman (12-1) was dominant against in-state competition, outscoring nine Nevada opponents 478-27. Junior wide receiver
Zachariah Branch was among the stars for the Gaels, catching 47 passes for 1,076 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Class 4A state champion
Silverado (Las Vegas) checks in at No. 3 after completing an unbeaten season by beating Shadow Ridge 61-27 in the title game. The Skyhawks averaged 52.3 points per game.
