Softball Recap: Puyallup Has No Trouble Against South Kitsap

Puyallup came out on top against South Kitsap on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fifth inning. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wolves. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kiera Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Amori Hargrove was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Jenny Tuivaiave also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Puyallup was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Puyallup and bumps their season record up to 10-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for South Kitsap, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Puyallup beat the Wolves by a score of 11-0 later that day.
