Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Edgewater Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell to the Hawks 62-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Minneola to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Saunders, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 steals. Saunders has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Aliyah Perry was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Edgewater has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Lake Minneola, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
Edgewater does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lake Minneola will take on the Mustangs at TBD on Wednesday. Hopefully Wekiva focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday.
