The Beaver Beavers will square off against the South Sevier Rams at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Beaver 3.2, South Sevier 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Beaver heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Kanab by a score of 7-5. The Beavers' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Gabe Robinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, South Sevier entered their tilt with Grand County on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 13-0 shutout. Considering the Rams have won 18 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Bigs Northrup made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kanyon Okerlund was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Peyton Ingram was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
South Sevier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand County only posted an OBP of .167.
South Sevier's victory bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Beaver, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Beaver hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Sevier struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Beaver suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to South Sevier when the teams last played back in April. Can the Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
