Carson is 9-1 against Banning since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Colts will be playing at home against the Pilots at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Banning will be up against a hot Carson squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Colts blew past Narbonne 18-1 on Thursday.
Giselle Pantoja looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayleigh Allen, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Grajeda, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Carson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Banning, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Rancho Dominguez a 16-0 shutout on Thursday. The Pilots haven't had any issues with the Lobos recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Banning got a massive performance out of Alina Argueta, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kali Sue, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one double.
Banning pushed their record up to 11-15 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carson, their victory bumped their record up to 19-3-1.
Everything went Carson's way against Banning in their previous matchup back in April, as Carson made off with an 11-3 win. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Pilots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
