Onalaska extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They came up short against the Mossyrock Vikings, falling 17-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 on Monday.
Desean Stewart and Blaze Underhill stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stewart went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Underhill went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Broden Vickers, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
As for Mossyrock, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Mossyrock's side, Wylde Greisen and Mason Atter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Greisen struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Atter pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mossyrock is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-7 otherwise. At the plate, Greisen went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs, while Atter got on base in two of his six plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Atter a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Easton Kolb, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Waylen Huguenin, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Onalaska didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-0 defeat against Toutle Lake on the 25th. As for Mossyrock, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-1 loss against Toledo on the 25th.
