The El Segundo Eagles will face off against the Palos Verdes Sea Kings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Segundo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
El Segundo's tournament run continued when they took on San Marcos on Saturday. El Segundo blew past San Marcos 14-2. Considering the Eagles have won three contests by more than 11 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacy Lindsay looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, El Segundo let Carter Cswaykus and Marilyn McCaverty run wild. Cswaykus went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while McCaverty scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That home run was Cswaykus' first of the season. Allie Stevenson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palos Verdes). They came out on top against Segerstrom by a score of 7-2 on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Daniella Boccanfuso spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Adela Randazzo was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sophie Hasegawa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Palos Verdes hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.
Palos Verdes' win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for El Segundo, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Palos Verdes' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: El Segundo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Palos Verdes, though, as they've only averaged .216. Will they be able to contain El Segundo's hitters?
El Segundo might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Palos Verdes when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will El Segundo have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
