The St. Raphael Academy Saints will take on the Coventry Oakers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Raphael Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
St. Raphael Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Ponaganset a 13-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Saints not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 19, 2025 (when they won 14-1).

Isabella Sousa was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Emma Martin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Sophie Roman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
St. Raphael Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Coventry was able to grind out a solid win over Moses Brown on Monday, taking the game 5-2. The victory continues a trend for the Oakers in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won eight in a row.
Like St. Raphael Academy, Coventry also got a great game from a two-way player: Mary Mcgovern. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Mcgovern was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Lapham, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Coventry now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for St. Raphael Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
St. Raphael Academy beat Coventry 4-1 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Oakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
