The Cherokee Trail Cougars are ranked highly in their home state, and on Thursday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the St. Mary's Rams. Cherokee Trail fell 68-55 to St. Mary's. Cherokee Trail has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madeline Gibbs, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Delainey Miller, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Cherokee Trail's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for St. Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Cherokee Trail will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rangeview at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. St. Mary's and Bolingbrook will face off at 2:10 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bolingbrook is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
