Caldera will venture away from home to challenge the Bend Lava Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Caldera's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Bend's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Caldera can't be too worried about heading out to take on Bend: they just beat Mountain View at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. Caldera's pitcher stepped up to hand Mountain View a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for Caldera in their matchups with Mountain View: they've now won eight in a row.

Not much got past Brooke Chapin, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Mountain View off the board. Chapin has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Analeigh Miller, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Elle Morton, who went 3-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Bend didn't have quite enough to beat Ridgeview on Wednesday and fell 7-6. The Lava Bears haven't had much luck with the Ravens recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Cass Sandgren was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Macy Hickey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Caldera's win bumped their record up to 19-1. As for Bend, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Bend's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Caldera has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bend, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Caldera keep running through batters, or will Bend buck the trend?
Caldera skirted past Bend 13-12 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Caldera since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
