Softball Recap: Varina Has No Trouble Against Armstrong

Varina won the last time they faced Armstrong and things went their way on Friday too. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 18-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Devils.

Varina got a massive performance out of Julia Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Anderson also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Geer, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

Varina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Varina's record now sits at 6-8. As for Armstrong, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Varina will face off against Henrico at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Armstrong, they will square off against John Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Justices have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.33 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
