Poly extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 4-1. They blew past the City College Knights 25-2. 25 seems to be a good number for the Engineers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Finley Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Poly got a massive performance out of Braylon Henderson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Kailyn McLain was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.
Poly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as City College only posted an OBP of .267.
As for City College, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but Poly's pitcher proved too tough.
On City College's side, Cheyenne Stidham was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Poly will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair will be back at it again later today.
