Basketball Recap: Chisholm Trail Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Chisholm Trail waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Saginaw Rough Riders by a score of 63-56. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 672nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Chisholm Trail to victory were Jesse Mutombo and Kaden Richardson. Mutombo dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards, while Richardson went 8 of 18 on his way to 23 points. The contest was Richardson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Johnson, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Saginaw still got an impressive performance from Trystan Overman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. Overman has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Willie McCrary, who had ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Chisholm Trail is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points per game. As for Saginaw, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-17.

Chisholm Trail will challenge Granbury at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chisholm Trail is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season. As for Saginaw, they will square off against Fossil Ridge at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Saginaw is facing Fossil Ridge at the right time seeing as Fossil Ridge is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
