Lincoln is 9-1 against Grove City since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lincoln Golden Lions will be playing at home against the Grove City Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Lincoln will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Lincoln stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They really took it to Reynoldsburg for the full four quarters, racking up a 51-20 win at home. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Reynoldsburg is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Diore Hubbard, who rushed for 139 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Hubbard is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennen Ward, who threw for 125 yards and a touchdown.
Grove City fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Hilliard Davidson 38-22 on Friday.
Matthew Papas had a dynamite game for Grove City, throwing for 231 yards and four touchdowns while completing 89.5% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Jeremiah King was another key contributor, picking up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Grove City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Myles Hutchinson.
Their wins bumped Lincoln to 11-0 and Grove City to 6-5.
Everything came up roses for Lincoln against Grove City in their previous matchup back in October as the team secured a 56-28 win. Will Lincoln repeat their success, or does Grove City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
