The team relied heavily on Zuzu Hardy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Haillee Shearer also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hempfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Governor Mifflin 13-2 on Friday. The Black Knights haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Jenna Ernst and Lily Ashton did most of the damage at the plate: Ernst went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ashton went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kristen Sauer, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Penn Manor's record is now 6-10. As for Hempfield, their record now sits at 9-7.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Penn Manor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Hempfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Penn Manor couldn't quite get it done against Hempfield in their previous meeting on April 8th as they fell 13-9. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
