Laguna Beach is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Oilers a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Laguna Beach Breakers will take on the Huntington Beach Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Laguna Beach came up short against the Sea Kings and fell 55-44. Laguna Beach has not had much luck with the Sea Kings recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Dylan McEachern put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 18 points. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games.
Meanwhile, Huntington Beach also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to the Vikings by a score of 51-43. While losing is never fun, Huntington Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Vikings are ranked 79th).
Laguna Beach has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. As for Huntington Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13.
Laguna Beach came out on top in a nail-biter against the Oilers when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 64-62. Will Laguna Beach repeat their success, or do the Oilers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
