The Thomas Jefferson Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Deep Run Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thomas Jefferson has six straight victories, Deep Run has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Thomas Jefferson has not done well against Godwin recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Thomas Jefferson came out on top against Godwin by a score of 24-14.
Among those leading the charge was Dashawn Stovall, who rushed for 150 yards while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Deep Run, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 23-7 loss to J.R. Tucker two Thursdays ago. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Deep Run in their matchups with J.R. Tucker: they've now lost three in a row.
Thomas Jefferson's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-0. Even more impressive is the teams they beat to make that streak: Godwin, Greensville County, and Amelia County. Deep Run has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first seven games, which gives them a 1-6 record this season.
Thomas Jefferson didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Deep Run when the teams last played back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 14-9 victory.
