Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for Canajoharie/Fort Plain, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a rough 35-14 defeat at the hands of Stillwater on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Canajoharie/Fort Plain in their matchups with Stillwater: they've now lost three in a row.
Canajoharie/Fort Plain's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cody Hyney , who threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Stillwater got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxon Mueller out in front who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 20 yards and a touchdown. Lukas Lilac also helped out as he racked up 159 rushing yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Canajoharie/Fort Plain to a paltry 246 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Stillwater's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Mueller and his two sacks.
Canajoharie/Fort Plain's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Stillwater, their victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Canajoharie/Fort Plain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stillwater will face off against Warrensburg/Lake George/Bolton at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Warrensburg/Lake George/Bolton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
