The Front Range Christian Falcons are taking a road trip to face off against the Denver Christian Thunder at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Front Range Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Front Range Christian is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since May 2, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 13-3 to Dawson School. The Falcons have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.
Front Range Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Angel, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Denver Christian). They blew past Kent Denver 21-9 on Thursday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Mason Reilly made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Denver Christian let James Lord and Elijah Whitfield run wild. Lord went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Whitfield went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Lord has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Speir, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Denver Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Denver Christian and bumps their season record up to 11-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Front Range Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Front Range Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Denver Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Front Range Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Front Range Christian suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Denver Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
