Lake Region is 1-9 against Lake Wales since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Thunder will be taking part in a tournament against the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Lake Wales will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Lake Region extended their winning streak to six on Friday. The Thunder never let Community School of Naples get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Thunder have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Josh Jenkins's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lake Region is 6-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Yadiel Echeverria, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Gage Calcutt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Lake Region always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Wales). They blew past Victory Christian Academy 22-11 on Monday.
Levi Cutts was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Welborn, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Lake Region's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Lake Wales, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12.
Lake Region's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Thunder have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lake Wales, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lake Region continue to outrun the ball?
Lake Region suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Lake Wales in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
