Baseball Game Preview: Oswego Indians vs. Uniontown Eagles

Oswego is 2-8 against Uniontown since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Indians will square off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Oswego has given up an average of 17.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oswego is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 17-7 to Yates Center. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly ten runs.

Demitri Williamson and Connor Minor stepped up to the plate in a big way. Williamson scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Minor scored a run while going 2-for-4. Williamson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Wyatt McClure also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Uniontown entered their tilt with Jayhawk Linn on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Jayhawks with a sharp 17-5 victory. While the Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Uniontown pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Oswego, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Oswego might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Uniontown in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
