Benson is 10-0 against the Yellow Jackets since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Benson Bobcats will head out on the road to square off against the Tombstone Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Benson has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while the Yellow Jackets will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Thursday, Benson ended up a good deal behind the Cowboys and lost 57-38.
Benson's defeat came about despite a quality game from Kaylei Taylor, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalie Lewis, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Tombstone scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Santa Rita, posting a 66-17 victory on the road. Given Tombstone's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Eagles are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Benson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season. As for Tombstone, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-11.
Benson didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Yellow Jackets in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 48-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Benson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
