Layton Logan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Denton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Carsen Stegall, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars last Tuesday. Lee Academy took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calhoun Academy.
Calhoun Academy pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Lee Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Lee Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Calhoun Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lee Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Calhoun Academy keep running through batters, or will Lee Academy buck the trend?
